Brief description of the Unit

This unit provides an introduction to sociological thinking, linking personal and public issues. This unit will focus on topics such as gender, class, ethnicity, youth and relationships to explore social interactions and inequalities. Students will reflect on their own positions in society and develop skills in academic research and writing.

Unit Content:

The unit may cover the following topics in detail: sociological methods and sources, sociological theories, gender, class, race and ethnicity, youth, environment and society, sport and society, health and society, families and relationships.
