Brief description of the Unit

This unit examines the importance of race and ethnicity in Australia and internationally. The concepts of race, racism, ethnicity, intersectionality and multiculturalism will be analysed and discussed in detail. The unit pays special attention to the place of First Nations peoples, immigration and ethnicity in Australia. The unit will examine various sociological theories and public policies, and apply these ideas to contemporary contexts from professional perspectives.
