Brief description of the Unit

Drawing on international case studies in both developed and developing countries, this unit investigates the goals of sustainable development as they relate to environmental, social and economic goals. Students are introduced to a range of perspectives, theories, and frameworks useful for understanding social and environmental change in the context of sustainable development. Students will explore a range of contemporary sustainability issues, at local, national and global scales. Using case studies and problem-based learning, this unit seeks to challenge students to think critically about what sustainable development means for this generation and the next

9. Economic growth: Causes and consequences
