Brief description of the Unit

This course uses case studies to explore some of the key issues of contemporary workplaces. Students will be required to draw on theoretical knowledge from previous courses and develop and apply the skills of critical reflection through weekly activities and collaborative problem-solving. Through this critical enquiry process, it is expected that students will further develop insights into a business environment and work towards improving skills in the areas of written and oral communication, intercultural communication, client service and self-management.

Unit Content:

•This is a practice based course. Students will be required to work on a project or projects for the duration of the assessment. This period will involve the student in:
•Industry overview and analysis
•Identifying the problem, project clarification
•Situational Analysis
•Project management issues
•Linking case study, project, problem brief to theoretical knowledge
•Feedback, draft report plan
•Effective Presentation Skills communication and use of technology. Presentation with Impact
•Project implementation considerations. Making recommendations.
•Project - Problem solving. Written Report and future considerations, review and planning
•Reflection- developing reflective writing
•Developing effective teams
•Professional conduct
