Brief description of the Unit

This unit continues the development of skills and techniques learnt in Dance Studio 3 and 4. It is designed to continue to develop technique, broaden dance and movement vocabulary and prepare students for potential work in the theatre industry across a range of styles and applications. It will also explore the work of seminal artistic figures related to dance and movement as a form.

Unit Content:

This unit incorporates techniques of various music theatre styles and movement forms. These may include jazz/music theatre dance, tap, ballet, movement, contemporary dance, partnering, composition and physical theatre forms. Classes will be geared towards application of techniques in a variety of contexts. Professional practice will be a focus of this unit and developed through studio audition exercises and working with external choreographers / directors.
