Brief description of the Unit |
The English for Academic Purposes (EAP6 A) program is tailored for the needs of international students wishing to succeed in academic study in Australia. EAP6A is the first five-weeks of a ten-week course of study of the advanced level of the English for Academic Purposes Level 6 course. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to move to the next five- week level EAP6B study of the EAP6 course in preparation for tertiary study at Federation University. Students receive a progress report upon completion of each five-week course. This courseĀ aims to develop the advanced reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, computer and study skills required for further study at Federation University, for diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It focuses on building students' confidence in the fundamental language skills in an academic context with an emphasis on developing critical thinking and academic literacy skills. |

Unit Content: |
The EAP6 course builds the skills required for lectures, tutorials, reading research and written assignments in English.
It is based on student- centred lessons using Reflect Reading and Writing coursebook 6 and Listening and Speaking coursebook 6. EAP6A will cover the first four units in each coursebook. The course is designed to help students not only master English but also builds their confidence and achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.
