Brief description of the Unit

This unit explores new technologies and digital-first approaches to education. New and emerging technologies are widely used in schools and they inform curriculum as well as impact learning outcomes. Digital education connects members of schools and their communities like never before. This unit looks not only at specific technologies and pedagogical approaches but also the research on digital learning and teaching and the evidence-base for what works. It explores topics such as inclusion, effective use of technology, and the social contexts of digital learning and teaching.

Unit Content:

This course will cover the following topics:

  • The social context of digital learning.
  • Evidence-base of the impact of technology in the classroom
  • Specific platforms and resources for digital learning
  • Contemporary innovations in the field  
  • Research on educational technology
