Brief description of the Unit |
This is the second part (Part B) in a two part Masters Research course chain. Within this course chain students will work independently (with supervision) in completing a research project relevant to a contemporary speech pathology theory or practice issue in the Education discipline. In enacting their research plan, students will be required to demonstrate a solid understanding of their research methodology as well as strong organisational and planning skills. Students will also collect, collate and analyse research data in order to derive robust research findings. Students will then critically examine their research findings in relation to existing knowledge on their research topic and analyse the relevance of these findings to Speech Pathology theory and practice. Following this, students will prepare a written summary of their research project in the form of a research paper suitable for publication in an appropriate academic journal. Students will also deliver an oral presentation summarising their research, following which they will be required to respond to examiners' questions regarding project design, findings and implications. |
