Brief description of the Unit |
General English 2A is the first five-week course of General English Level 2. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to move to the next five-week level course (General English 2B) in GE Level 2, the EAP program, and, eventually, tertiary study at Federation University. Students receive a progress report upon completion of each five-week course. Students who have completed General English 1A and 1B will find this course extends and builds upon their previous studies, as will students entering with an IELTS score of 4 (or equivalent). In this course students will be introduced to skills to assist their understanding of English sentence structures, frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment), and the communication via English required within simple and routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. They will study the basics of English language descriptions in simple terms on matters related to their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need. |

Graduate Attributes: |
The Federation University graduate attributes (GA) are entrenched in the Higher Education Graduate Attributes Policy (LT1228).Federation University Australia graduates develop these graduate attributes through their engagement in explicit learning and teaching and assessment tasks that are embedded in all Federation Courses. Graduate attribute attainment typically follows an incremental development process mapped through Course progression.
