Brief description of the Unit |
This project-based unit is designed to enable learners to get started with DevOps methodology using Azure DevOps Services. The unit will be based on an Azure DevOps platform initiative which will provide speed and agility to manage projects, collaborate, develop software, test, and deploy. Working in teams of 4-5, learners will assess the status quo and the problem, perform first-hand research on Azure DevOps Services and the features available, set up and configure an Azure DevOps services environment for projects and migrate existing projects into the platform. The team will collaborate and run a sprint session using the Azure DevOps project management and collaboration functionality. The learning from the project can be applied in job roles that focus on project management, software development, QA and testing, and product management and ownership. Some of the roles that will benefit from involvement in this project-based unit are: • DevOps Analyst • Project Manager • Product Manager/Owner • Scrum Master • QA Engineer • Software Developer |

Sprint 3 (2 weeks) Evaluate options for user requirements/work item data migration from third-party sources and various solutions. Sprint 4 (2 weeks) Migrate/Import and organize data into its respective work item types and assign product backlog items and tasks to team members. Sprint 5 (2 weeks) Run a sprint session with team members using the Azure DevOps Sprints component, using the backlog items/user stories assigned to the team. Sprint 6 (2 weeks) Prepare a demo/show-and-tell video celebrating the team's work and what has been learned through the completion of the project. |
Graduate Attributes: |
Federation University recognises that students require key transferable employability skills to prepare them for their future workplace and society. FEDTASKS (Transferable Attributes Skills and Knowledge) provide a targeted focus on five key transferable Attributes, Skills, and Knowledge that are be embedded within curriculum, developed gradually towards successful measures and interlinked with cross-discipline and Co-operative Learning opportunities. One or more FEDTASK, transferable Attributes, Skills or Knowledge must be evident in the specified learning outcomes and assessment for each FedUni Unit, and all must be directly assessed in each Course.
