Brief description of the Unit

This unit builds upon the foundations and further develops advanced life support (ALS) capabilities in pre-hospital emergency care. It focuses specifically on managing complex scenarios, including obstetric emergencies, major trauma, and multi-casualty incidents, with an emphasis on interagency collaboration. The curriculum integrates clinical reasoning, scope of practice, and the application of clinical guidelines, standards, and ethical-legal frameworks within the context of Ambulance Victoria. Key themes include patient-centred and evidence-based care, safety, interdisciplinary teamwork, and professional accountability in dynamic, resource-constrained environments.

HCPAR6002 Clinical Paramedicine 2, this unit is designed to build upon and extend your knowledge and skills of The Clinical Practice Guidelines, equipment and Ambulance Victoria procedures. This unit is closely interrelated with Paramedic Clinical Diagnostics 2 or Clincial Diagnostics and Practice units and these units combine to develop the participants understanding of pre hospital care to the Advanced Life Support level.
