Brief description of the Unit |
This course develops the necessary knowledge and skills required of independent prescribers. Principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, together with knowledge of indications, side effects of treatments and risk management strategies will be explored. Critical thinking decisions on therapeutic management (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) options, collaboration with other health care providers and evaluation strategies will be explored. The use of digital technologies to support prescribing practices will be explored. Students will maintain a clinical log during their 50 hours of interprofessional practice which will incorporate reflections of their learning. |
