Brief description of the Unit |
This is the second part (Part B) in a two-part Honours Research unit chain. Within this unit chain students will work independently (with supervision) in completing a research project relevant to a contemporary speech pathology theory or practice issue in an education-related area. Students will be required to demonstrate a solid understanding of their research methodology as well as strong organisational and planning skills. Students will consolidate their knowledge on their research topic area by undertaking a critical analysis of the literature, culminating in the production of a literature review paper. In this unit students will collect, collate and analyse research data in order to derive robust research findings. Students will then critically examine their research findings in relation to existing knowledge on their research topic and analyse the relevance of these findings to Speech Pathology theory and practice. Following this, students will prepare a written summary of their research project in the form of a research thesis. Students will also deliver an oral presentation summarising their research, following which they will be required to respond to examiners' questions regarding project design, findings and implications. |
