Brief description of the Unit |
This unit introduces students to the theories, legislation, policies and standards that provide the foundation for mental health practice within the context of Australia. Students will examine and develop an understanding of recovery-oriented care which is the contemporary approach to model of treatment and care in mental health. Students will be provided with an opportunity to develop their theoretical understanding of the factors that govern the scope of practice for mental health clinicians. Students will also examine and understand the key role of a mental health nurse in the multidisciplinary team, in providing high quality and safe care for individuals with mental illness |
