Brief description of the Unit

This unit introduces students to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of sport events across a range of contexts. Students will explore the event lifecycle, including conceptualisation, budgeting, logistics, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and post-event reporting. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and applied learning activities, students will develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in sport event coordination and the broader organisational, legal, and strategic considerations that shape event delivery. The unit prepares students to contribute to sport events in diverse settings, with skills and knowledge that are adaptable to both community and professional environments.

Define the event planning process for the conceptual design, implementation and evaluation of sport events.

Identify social, economic and/or environmental impacts and legacies of sport events for stakeholders and host communities.

Recognise the concepts of project and logistics management, event operations, risk management, impact and legacy management and evaluation processes of sport events.

Explain the role, responsibilities and function of stakeholders including government, non-government and private sector organisations in sport events.
