Brief description of the Unit |
This unit focuses on the different ways law applies to sport, the global nature of the environment and the basis for negotiation as a means of solving disputes. This unit aims to provide students with an understanding of the broad regulatory environment, the specific laws that affect sport and the involvement and roles of international and national sports federations. |

This may include: •Introduction to sports law •Policies and procedures - how sport develops and adapts its laws •Dispute resolution and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) •Integrity in sport, including doping, corruption, match fixing and sports gambling •Employment issues in sport, including contracts, salary caps and athlete transfers •Athlete welfare rights •Commercial rights and the impact on sport •International Olympic Committee's sponsorship programme - legal implications for sport •Regulation of technology, including advancements used for sport performance |
