| Brief description of the Unit |
This unit provides students with a knowledge of ethical theories, including the ACS code of ethics, management, leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and business and IT professional practice skills. These skills are interpreted and applied to solve a range of complex social, legal and ethical dilemmas resulting from technological innovation. Particular focus is applied to the professional and innovative utilisation and management of data and systems software. |

- Ethical, social and legal issues in IT professional practice. These may include security, privacy, freedom of speech, censorship, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, role of government and judiciary, copyright and cybercrime.
- Ethical theories and Australian Computer Society Code of Ethics.
- IT business and professional practice skills. These may include report writing, interview skills, team skills, negotiation, conflict resolution, presentation, outsourcing, quality assurance, certification and globalisation.
- IT management, leadership, consultancy, and entrepreneurship.
- IT project management as a career.
