| Brief description of the Unit |
This course is the first of two clinical practice courses, which are designed to set the foundation for learning experiences within health settings. This course is made up of three 5-week placements in different discipline areas selected from the mandatory placements of Acute Care/Cardiorespiratory, Neuro/Rehabilitation, Musculo-skeletal Physiotherapy, Rural and non-core. The total of 15 weeks of supervised professional practice clinical experience will be conducted in clinical settings in a range of public and private health care facilities. | Unit Content: |
525 hours of Professional Practice clinical placement experience (Part 1 of 2) (NHPPS 4001) Clinical experience provides opportunities to integrate theory and practice. In a wide range of settings, you will be given the opportunity and instruction to develop and refine your clinical and reasoning skills necessary for entry into the workforce. Work-based placements allow development of competencies required for professional practice, including reflective practice, clinical assessment and intervention skills, professional communication, and self-management. Not only will you practice taught skills, you will continue to develop your professional identity. The physiotherapist educators at various facilities work in a close partnership with the University to provide these teaching and learning opportunities and to create highly contextualised learning outcomes for you. |
