Brief description of the Unit

Physiotherapists provide care for people with complex healthcare needs. In this unit, you will consolidate clinical reasoning skills, developed during your coursework and clinical placement experience and expand your abilities to analyse situations in which people have complex needs. This unit will incorporate problem-based learning to develop skills of analysis and integration of care through complex healthcare systems. Upon completion of this unit, you are expected to have the critical thinking capabilities you will require upon graduation as a qualified physiotherapist and the reflective and reflexive capabilities to engage in lifelong learning to grow in the ever-evolving healthcare industry.

1. Revision of clinical reasoning and problem solving in the clinical setting
2. Critical Care
3. Burns
4. People living with major lower limb amputations
5. People living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
6. Complex gerontology, falls and disorders of the vestibular system
7. Integration of care through the healthcare continuum
8. Integrating reflective practice into continuing professional development and ongoing learning
