Brief description of the Unit

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to increase personal competence in a selected focus area appropriate to their major area of study. Students negotiate a contract with the course coordinator, specifying the focus area and the level of award or experience. Students explore and analyse theoretical models, issues and best practice related to a selected focus area to gain experience in that area.

Development and analysis of practical knowledge and skill. Risk management and safety procedures. Finding, interpreting and using resources specific to selected focus areas. Finding a mentor and/or teacher/instructor. Workplace readiness.
