This unit helps students gain an understanding of the essential concepts, theory and issues of psychological assessment including the processes and technical procedures involved in developing, administering and interpreting psychological tests.

Examine how cultural factors, including those related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, affect the use, administration, interpretation, and reporting of psychological assessments.

Demonstrate knowledge of key theories and concepts of psychological testing and assessment across a range of domains.

Critically evaluate psychological tests and assessments, including how valid and reliable they are, and choose suitable tests for a range of clinical and non-clinical situations.

Effectively communicate the findings from tests and assessments to stakeholders using appropriate language.

Develop and validate a psychological test by creating items and evaluating the measure’s reliability and validity using appropriate psychometric methods.
