Brief description of the Unit
This is a psychological placement unit which provides the opportunity for students to apply, under supervision, the knowledge and skills acquired through coursework. The focus is on providing  psychological services to clients attending the Federation University training clinics. Students enrolled in this unit will complete their placement under the supervision of a Board Approved Supervisor.

On successful completion of the unit the students are expected to be able to:
Knowledge:

Unit Content:
The unit will involve 150 hours of practicum activities in pre-placement skills development workshops and supervised practicum experience in FedUni Community Psychology Services or an approved external agency. The unit includes the following aspects:
  • Completion of professional practice hours
  • Review of accurate log book recording of practicum experiences consistent with registration requirements
  • Instruction in the development and recording of professional development plans consistent with registration requirements
  • Instruction in the development of a supervision plan over the internship year including accurate log book recording
  • Integrating assessment and treatment plans into a detailed formulation and treatment approach
  • Instruction on documentation of case notes
  • Interpersonal communication with differing client groups and other professionals
