| Brief description of the Unit |
This unit is one of two that provides essential knowledge of human structure and function relevant to health and nutrition. It begins with the anatomy and physiology of reproduction, pregnancy and human development, before examining the structure and function of the digestive system and the metabolic processes that support nutrient metabolism and energy production. The unit then explores the urinary system and fluid balance, followed by the lymphatic system and immunity. Integration and control of body systems are considered through the endocrine system, and the unit concludes with the structure and function of the integumentary system. Together, these topics support an understanding of the biological basis of health and changing needs across the lifespan. Topics include: reproductive systems; pregnancy and human development; metabolism and the structure and function of the digestive, urinary, lymphatic, endocrine and integumentary systems. |

| Graduate Attributes: |
| Federation University recognises that students require key transferable employability skills to prepare them for their future workplace and society. FEDTASKS (Transferable Attributes Skills and Knowledge) provide a targeted focus on five key transferable Attributes, Skills, and Knowledge that are be embedded within curriculum, developed gradually towards successful measures and interlinked with cross-discipline and Co-operative Learning opportunities. One or more FEDTASK, transferable Attributes, Skills or Knowledge must be evident in the specified learning outcomes and assessment for each FedUni Unit, and all must be directly assessed in each Course.
|
