Brief description of the Unit |
This unit focuses on understanding deviance in our contemporary society. Using a variety of social and sociological theories, it will explore how people come to act contrary to established norms and laws but also where these regulations emerge from in the first instance. The unit also considers the role of institutions in enforcing laws and regulations as well as the informal social controls that are applied in everyday life. |
