Brief description of the Unit |
This introductory unit introduces students to key conceptual and technical skills needed to create contemporary three dimensional art objects. Through exploring the diverse history of ceramics, students will engage in transformative exercises that prepare them for further development. Weekly seminars will include reading and writing assignments, peer feedback, hands-on practice, and discussions on global contemporary art practices |

Unit Content: |
Topics may include: - Students will be introduced to series of fabricating techniques involving hand tools as well as the fundamental use of clay and glazes.
- Students will be led through a series of demonstrations and tutorials that relate to a series of set projects.
- Students will be given presentations that complement the relevant project.
- Detailed project sheets will be given to students on day 1 of class.
