Brief description of the Unit
This unit advances students’ visual arts practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of arts practice as focussed on a single media and/ or across multiple media. Students’ studio practice is supplemented with, and supported by, skills workshops that both challenge and enhance the development of a personal aesthetic. This course encourages students to develop significant works that demonstrate a personal artistic style informed by an appreciation and awareness of a range of artistic methodologies and theories. Students will become conversant with critiquing and challenging contemporary art theory and practice. This unit requires students to undertake independent creative engagement and research at an intermediate level.

Unit Content:
