| Brief description of the Unit |
Studio Art Practice 5 is a unit that enables students to undertake independent research and development of conceptual, technical and aesthetic skills and knowledge. The unit encourages students’ practical artistic professional practice through supervision by and dialogue with qualified lecturing staff providing students with models and opportunities to strengthen their own professional expertise. Linking theory and practice, students will devise a program of study tailored to their own personal artistic vision in order to produce a discernibly individual body of artworks within their chosen field. This unit provides advanced practical and theoretical studies and supports students in conceiving, planning, and executing a major program of works. This is done by taking into consideration the art theory that underpins contemporary artistic practice. The research element and learning will be supported by visits to art galleries/artists’ studios, talks, and exhibition spaces. |

This unit provides students’ with an appropriate environment for practical artistic professional practice through dedicated supervision by, and dialogue with qualified practicing and lecturing staff.
