Brief description of the Unit |
This course builds upon the skills and knowledge attained over the previous five semesters. The course continues to develop aspects of visual art practice and theory with specific but not exclusive regard to contemporary artistic practice. The course provides an opportunity for students to consolidate their independent creative, thinking, and research skills through a deepening awareness of both traditional and experimental modes of practice, philosophical and critical thinking and evaluation. Students will continue to work supervised and in consultation with lecturing staff in pursuing their own unique and individual mode of artistic expression. |

Unit Content: |
This course builds upon the skills and knowledge learnt over the previous five semesters. The course continues to develop aspects of visual art practice and theory with specific but not exclusive regard to contemporary artistic practice. The course extends and consolidates students’ creative and thinking skills through a deepening awareness of both traditional and experimental modes of practice, philosophical and critical thinking and evaluation. Students will continue to work in consultation with lecturing staff in developing a unique and individual mode of artistic expression As part of the semester’s work, students will consider and revise their first semester project with the aim of presenting a statement to accompany their folio presentation at the end of the year. Students’ projects will be refined in consultation with teaching staff and appropriate adjustments implemented to suit their self-directed program of study. Through this course, students are expected to develop and resolve a mature, professional, investigative body of artwork, with reference to their stated intentions. |
